Larijani: No more anti-Iran resolution

By NNN-IRNA

Tehran : Leadership representative in the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani said Dec 6 2007 that issuance of yet one more anti-Iran resolution by the UN Security Council is not absolute.

“The logic of issuing a resolution against Iran has come across with difficulty; so, issuance of such a resolution is not definite,” Larijani told a group of Basijis north of Tehran.

Larijani insisted the remaining problems with the IAEA would be solved one after another.

Pointing to recent NIE report, Larijani said, “Recent report of Americans clarified their mistakes.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani said power is not Iran’s logic.

“While having regional power, Iran is under present conditions a friend to its neighbors and the Persian Gulf littoral states.” He said the NIE report repeats anti-Iran charges, when it maintains that Iran had put aside its nuclear technology since 2003.

“That’s a false claim; Iran has never been seeking nuclear weapons. If Americans have any document, they should submit it to (the IAEA Chief Mohammed) ElBaradei,” he insisted.

He noted that the US suffers double-standards in word and in deed.

“While speaking of talks they raise words on putting pressure. What are all these adventurism and trouble-making for? On the one hand, they sign contract for construction of power plant with India, which has already nuclear weapons, and on the other hand, they pile up pressure on Iran, which possesses peaceful nuclear technology,” he criticized.

He said what’s going on in Iraq is the result of cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad. “In the period, security and economic assistance was forwarded to Iraq.”

To the end of his remarks, Larijani said Iran welcomes election of General Michel Suleiman, a consensus candidate for presidency in Lebanon, believing that “it would somehow help restore peace.”
