Islamabad : The National Command Authority (NCA) Friday cautioned against those contemplating any “misadventure” saying Pakistan was fully capable of defending its interests. The NCA meeting was chaired by President Pervez Musharraf and attended by caretaker Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majid, Services Chiefs and senior military officers and scientists.
The meeting took note of the hostile campaign in a section of international media regarding Pakistan’s nuclear assets and reiterated their security was “fullproof” and advised against creating irresponsible alarm.
The NCA also reviewed development of various projects related to the country’s strategic capability and expressed satisfaction over the pace of development, said a statement released by the Inter Services Public Relations.
The meeting also approved a number of proposals for strengthening the deterrence capability of the country.
The NCA is mandated to have complete command and control over research, development, production and use of nuclear and space technologies and to ensure security and safety of nuclear establishments and nuclear materials.
