Patna : A youth in a Bihar village was beaten to death with a cricket bat after he tried to mediate over a minor dispute related to a cricket ball.
Gajendra Singh, 22, a resident of a village near Chapra town, was beaten to death Sunday afternoon by a group of boys playing cricket in a field.
According to police sources, Saroj Kumar, neighbour of Singh, protested after a cricket ball entered his field. That led to a heated exchange between him and the youths, who attacked Kumar.
When Singh went to mediate between them he too was attacked and beaten with a bat and wickets.
“Singh was beaten to death with a cricket bat and wickets when he went to mediate over a minor dispute related to a cricket ball that entered a field,” police sources said Monday.
A case was registered naming three boys playing cricket in the field. The boys are absconding and the police raided their houses to arrest them.
