Bhopal: Development works would be started in 7806 village Panchayats in 17 districts of Madhya Pradesh from April 1 next year under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Rustam Singh has issued instructions to collectors of the districts concerned to start five community and 25 beneficiary-oriented works. He told the officers to make necessary arrangements to meet the target within the deadline. Under the scheme a family possessing Job Card has the right to ask for employment and this information should be widely publicised. He issued these instructions while addressing the concluding session of training to collectors of 17 districts to be covered under this scheme.
Singh said that under the scheme every villager of the area would have the right to ask for employment. He said that all the necessary works must be completed within the deadline. Officer must ensure availability of Job Card to every registered family. He also told the officers basic job-oriented assets should be developed in rural areas. He said that high quality should be ensured in works. Contractor system should be completely barred. Machines should not be used for those works which can be done manually. He warned of stern action against those violating these instructions and norms.
The Collectors of 17 districts to be covered under this schemes and those collectors who have been posted in the district for the first time were invited to attend the meeting held at WALMI. Various important points regarding effective implementation of the schemes were taken up for discussion at the two-day session. Additional Chief Secretary Pradeep Bhargava, Secretary Waseem Akhtar, Secretary Ashok Shah and other officers also addressed the participants.
It may be mentioned that Ujjain, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Shajapur, Indore, Bhopal, Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, Hoshangabad, Gwalior, Bhind, Sagar, Narsinghpur and Jabalpur districts would also be included in National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme-Madhya Pradesh from April 1, 2008. So far, the benefits of this scheme were confined to 31 districts only.([email protected])
