Investment proposals worth Rs. 2.25 lakh crore received, claims MP Govt.

Bhopal: The Bharatya Janata Party, (BJP), ruled Madhya Pradesh Government has claimed that as many as 279 big, medium and small industrial units were set up in Madhya Pradesh in the past four years. While during the long Congress rule period of 10-year between 1993 and 2003, only 399 units were set up.

The period of the last four years would go down in the history books since during this period, investment proposals to the tune of a whopping Rs. 2.25 lakh crore were received, it was claimed.

Madhya Pradesh Industries Minister Jayant Malaiya said during the short span of four years of BJP rule ending July this year, 279 industrial units at a cost of Rs. 1862 crore 32 lakh and 37 thousand have been established in the state whereas during the 10 year Congress rule between 1993 to December 2003 only 399 industries were set up in the state. Malaiya said that apart from setting of industrial units, proposals worth Rs. 2.25,206 crore have also been received for industrial development.

Malaiya said that only at Indore Investors’ Summit Rs. 1.20,541 crore worth 102 MoUs were signed. Rs. 91,595 crore 52 MoUs were signed in the industrial sector, 11 MoUs worth Rs. 2931 crore were signed in the sector of higher education, five MoUs in the energy sector worth Rs. 15,546 were inked, Rs. 1685 crore worth four MoUs in the health and medical services sector, 15 MoUs worth Rs. 2227 crore in food and food processing sector and Rs. 6557 crore worth 15 MoUs were signed for Information and Technology sector.

Giving details of investment proposals, Malaiya said that even before the Indore Summit, 131 MoUs worth Rs. 104665 crore had been signed in the state which is a great achievement. Out of these investment proposals Rs. 50000 crore MoUs were in power generation sector, Rs. 30000 crore in engineering and mineral sector, Rs. 6000 crore in agro food processing sector, Rs. 5000 crore in textile sector, Rs. 2000 crore in auto component sector, Rs 1200 crore in service sector and Rs. 300 crore in pharmaceutical sector.

Industry Minister said that the dismal industrial scenario during the prolonged 10-year period between 1993 and 2003 of Congress rule has been converted into a pleasing one in just four years by the state government through its sustained efforts on this front. He said that by the mid-2007, production in 49 units worth Rs. 2608 core had been started while 55 units worth Rs. 30047 are passing through the process of implementation. ([email protected])
