Over 98 Percent Iranians Have Access To Healthy Water

BOROUJERD (Lorestan Province), Dec 24 (Bernama) — Over 98 percent of Iranians have access to healthy drinkable water, Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported Sunday quoting its Minister of Energy Praviz Fattah as saying.

Speaking in a local gathering in this western province, Praviz said the rate was higher that the rate of accessibility to healthy drinkable water of Asian people which stood at 80 percent.

Noting that Iran is among very few countries that could successfully eliminate diseases related to drinking polluted water, Fattah said: “This is a great honor for us.”

The minister added that underground water supplies “are among strategic resources” of the country and “it is a major responsibility for all Iranian people and officials to protect them.”
