Palestinian special envoy visits Cuba

Havana : The member of the Executive Committee of the Organization for the Liberation of Palestine (OLP) Saleh Raafat visited Cuba Saturday in the capacity as a special envoy of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, local newspaper Granma daily reported.

Raafat, also the general secretary of the Palestine Democratic Union Party, carried a message from Abbas to Cuban President Fidel Castro and First Vice President Raul Castro, the paper said.

Representing Abbas, Raafat also held talks with Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque, with whom he exchanged views on bilateral relations, the struggle of the Palestinian people for their right to have their own state and other regional and international issues of mutual interest, according to the paper.

Cuba has also ratified its commitment to continuing working, leading the Non Aligned Movement in favor of the Palestinian people’s cause, the paper added.
