Washington : Former World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz, who resigned over allegations of favouritism, has joined the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a Washington think tank, as a visiting scholar.
"At AEI, Wolfowitz will work on entrepreneurship and development issues, Africa, and public-private partnerships," a statement by the institute said Monday.
Wolfowitz stepped down as World Bank chief June 30 after a special bank panel found that he had broken rules when he arranged a hefty compensation package in 2005 for his girlfriend, Shaha Riza, a bank employee.
Wolfowitz had earlier served as US deputy defence secretary and played a key role in mapping out the US-led war in Iraq.
According to AEI, its aim is "to defend the principles and improve the institutions of American freedom and democratic capitalism".
