Tokas lowers 100m backstroke mark, hogs limelight; five new National records set

Bhopal, July 7: Praveen Tokas of Delhi hogged the limelight as he lowered the 100m backstroke mark by 0.35 seconds to claim the Group I boys' gold medal as five new National records were set here on the second day of the 34th Junior National Aquatics Championship.
    
There were total 48 medals at stake on the second day of the championship out which Karnataka earned 6 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze, Maharashtra earned 5 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze in the competitions.
    
In the Water Polo matches group Maharashtra women dominated defeating Delhi by 20-6. Kerala vanquished West Bengal by 6-0. In the men's section Maharashtra beat Manipur by 10-2. Punjab defeated Madhya Pradesh by 9-4. Madhya Pradesh lost the match as it did not perform well.
   
The medals were presented to swimmers by the former Chief Secretary K.S. Sharma, organising committee president Deepak Joshi (MLA), Pawan Kumar Srivastav, organising vice president (IPS); Ved Prakash (SDM); Dr. Chug, Ajay Sharma, Principal Delhi Public School, Bhopal; Rajkumar, Secretary Delhi Swimming Federation. The results of the day were as follows:-
