Gurgaon : Seven coaches from clubs participating in the national football league met with national coach Bob Houghton on the sidelines of the ongoing camp here Sunday.

Sukhwinder Singh (Jagatjit Cotton Textile Mills), Derrick Pereira (Mahindra United), Clifford Chukuwuma (Sporting Clube de Goa), Bimal Ghosh (Air-India), E. Sreedharan (Viva Kerala), Mathew Gonsalves (Salgaocar) and Subrata Bhattacharya (East Bengal) called on the Englishman at the Indian team's hotel this morning and discussed issues ailing football in the country.

Subjects like the national calendar, players' analysis, role of the support staff were discussed in the meeting, which all the coaches found quite satisfying.

In the afternoon, the coaches also saw the players sweat it out under the guidance of Houghton at the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex.

"It was a good session and we had a fruitful discussion. But it is too early to comment on anything as we are seeing the training session only for the second day," said Sukhwinder Singh.

"What has impressed me most was the boys' enthusiasm. It was good to see the players participating in the training session with such eagerness," the JCT Mills coach said.

There were at least two coaches – Singh and Sreedharan – who had previously handled the national team independently and both looked satisfied with the team's progress.

Mahindra coach Pereira also echoed Singh's views saying that the Englishman's plans are positive and "it would be possible for Bob to achieve his goals".

"He showed us the calendar and discussed what we can do. We have to think positive. He wanted to show us what he is doing," said Pereira.
