Jammu : Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was thrown open for vehicular movement on Monday after remaining closed for a day also facilitating resumption of annual Amarnath Yatra which remained suspended due to inclement weather on Sunday.
The road was closed following shooting stones and land slides at various places along the artillery route triggered by heavy down pour experienced at continues intervals during last twenty four hours.
Reports reaching here revealed that Beacon officials put its men and machinery in service to clear the road from Ramban to Banihal to facilitate early resumption of vehicular traffic and smooth conduct of Amarnath yatra.
Meanwhile, following the opening of the traffic and improvement of weather conditions, Yatra to the holy cave of Amarnath was resumed from Jammu as well as through the twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal in the Valley.
According to the SASB spokesperson, Madan Mantoo, 18,500 pilgrims stranded at various points enroute to shrine from Pahalgam and Baltal routes on Sunday, recommenced their journey to the Himalayan shrine.Â
