Thiruvananthapuram : The hard disc and CDs recovered from the Bangalore home of Kafeeel Ahmed, one of the suspects in the recent British terror plot, are likely to be deciphered at a cyber forensic lab in Kerala.
A highly placed source in the Thiruvananthapuram unit of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) told IANS that the cyber forensic department of the institution here is competent to examine the material and has done similar jobs in the past.
"This department is one of its kind in the country where such examinations can be carried out – the other place is the Hyderabad Police Academy and right now they do not have the people to do it," said the source.
A C-DAC expert, B.R. Remani, has the necessary expertise for the purpose. "All deleted files up to even three years old can be recovered and that can be done in less than a week's time," said the source.
Kafeel, son of Bangalore-based doctors Maqbool and Zakia Ahmed, is alleged to be the man who drove a blazing jeep into the Glasgow airport terminal building June 30.
The Bangalore police Sunday recovered the hard disc and several CDs from his home.
