New Delhi : Stressing on the need to modernise Delhi Police, outgoing commissioner K.K. Paul Thursday said the attitude of police personnel should be changed so that they become people friendly.
"During my tenure attitude and the work style of jawans have changed tremendously but more work should be done (towards it)," Paul said here while taking a salute at new police lines parade ground.
Paul's tenure as Delhi Police commissioner ends Thursday. He will move to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) as a member. Paul took over as national capital's police chief on Jan 30, 2004 and served for over 40 months, the longest tenure ever.
Yudhvir Singh Dadwal, a 1974-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer has been named the new Delhi Police Commissioner.

Bidding adieu to his colleagues, Paul advised police officials not to do any work that "brings bad name to the other personnel as well".
"Police officials should always be ahead of time to solve any problem. They must do at least one constructive work in a day," he said.
Speaking about the modernisation of the police in the national capital, he said in the past few years Delhi Police have implemented and adopted new technologies to combat not only crime but also terrorism.
"We have inter-connected all the police stations and computerised all the systems," he said.

"For this we are giving special training (to the personnel) in our police training college."
