By IRNA

Beirut : Lebanese Minister of Sciences and Education Khalid Qabbani appreciated Iran's efforts to reconstruct war-stricken areas in his country and said Iran's activities in this regard have made everybody 'astonished'.

Qabbani, who was speaking in a meeting with Hessam Khoshnevis, President Ahmadinejad's envoy and the head of Iran's headquarters for Reconstruction of Lebanon, said, "Israel, with its barbaric attacks, destroyed many roads, schools, mosques and public places in Lebanon but our Iranian brothers have reconstructed most of them." "Iran has always been beside Lebanon and we are proud of Iran's enthusiasm towards Lebanon and appreciate it," the Lebanese official said.

In the meeting, Khoshnevis said Iran had been committed to rebuild 200 schools in the southern Beirut and Beka of which 149 have been completed.

He also said out of 1,032 projects to be implemented in the war- stricken areas, 704 have been finished so far.

In the 33-day war of the Zionist regime against Lebanon, Israel killed over 1,000 Lebanese and inflicted billions of dollars of loss to different parts including public places. The Islamic Republic of Iran and some other countries are directly involved in reconstructing parts of destroyed places.
