Stanford (California) : Anna Chakvetadze won her second title in as many weeks as she brushed aside the challenge of Sania Mirza 6-3, 6-2 to win the Bank of the West Classic here Sunday night.
The Russian's sixth career title and fourth of the season takes her up to a career-best world ranking of sixth, according to the WTA Tour website.
Chakvetadze and Mirza also met in the semi-finals in Cincinnati last week, where the Russian won the title.
"I didn't expect to win in two sets because I've been starting so slow," said the 20-year-old Chakvetadze.
"I told myself, 'I'm not feeling that great to go three sets so I have to finish it faster'.
"Her forehand is huge but when I made her run it's tough for her. I was more concentrated on every point."
Mirza, who is making a comeback after knee surgery, said she could feel her chance slip away.
"The first set I hung in there but after I lost the first set she dominated," the Indian number one said.
"I wasn't the hitting the ball as cleanly as I did in my other matches. I think we were both very tired."
