Abu Dhabi : A Red Crescent Authority (RCA) delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will fly Sunday to Jordan as part of a whirlwind tour which also takes them to Syria and Lebanon to inspect humanitarian conditions at Palestinian refugees camps there.

Abdullah Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Director of RCA's Projects and Development and head of the delegation, said "While in Jordan, the team will attend a UN regional workshop about enhancement of response mechanism to humanitarian cases", news agency WAM reported.

Starting Monday, the workshop will highlight key elements of reforms to be introduced for emergency response to humanitarian situations focusing on the Middle East, North Africa, Iran and Afghanistan. The workshop is organised by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The team would tour Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon to assess their needs and explore suitable projects to improve their living conditions in coordination with United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

To alleviate suffering and severe living conditions of refugees, funds offered by philanthropists in the UAE will be distributed to the most needy.

In Syria, the foundation stone for a preparatory school for girls will be laid at Sabina refugees camp as part of the RCA's efforts to spread education.
