New Delhi : Mobster Abu Salem, who was brought here from Mumbai last month for questioning in three extortion cases, was taken back to the western metropolis Monday for trial in connection with the 1993 serial blasts.

Salem, who was lodged in the capital's high security Tihar jail, was taken to Mumbai's Arthur Road jail as he has to appear before the special Terrorists and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) court hearing the serial blasts case.

Salem's lawyer Ashok Sarogi said he would be brought again to the national capital depending upon the TADA court's direction.

Salem was extradited to India Nov 11, 2005, from Portugal for his role in the terror blasts in India's financial capital.

Apart from the Mumbai blasts case, the 36-year-old mobster is also wanted in 54 cases ranging from murder to extortion.

Salem and former Bollywood starlet Monica were arrested at a Lisbon shopping mall Sep 18, 2002, following an Interpol red corner notice issued at Central Bureau of Investigation's behest.
