Gurgaon (Haryana) : A local court Friday sent A.K. Singh, who has confessed to aborting over 250 female foetuses, on a two-day police remand after the police discovered at least eight burnt foetuses from a septic tank at his residence in Pataudi town near here, police said.

"We are interrogating the accused and can't divulge any information as the questioning is still in an initial stage," Deputy Superintendent of Police Kailash Chander told IANS.

Singh was arrested Thursday after the police raided his residence-cum-clinic Buala Nursing Home in Pataudi following complaints that he was allegedly involved in killing unborn babies.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Dhawan, the accused had been fined for practising as a medical practitioner with a bogus medical degree.

"In 1994, he had been convicted for practising on fake medical degrees. Now a case has been registered against him under provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including cheating, and the Medical Council Act," Dhawan said.

The clinic has been sealed.
