Paris : French President Nicolas Sarkozy's right-wing party won an absolute majority in parliament Sunday, results published by the Interior Ministry showed.
Â Â Â Â The second round of France's parliamentary elections ended at 8:00 p.m. (1800 GMT), with the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) party taking 314 seats in the 577-seat National Assembly.
Â Â Â Â The main opposition Socialist Party won 185 seats.
Â Â Â Â The remaining seats were shared by other parties, with For a Presidential Majority taking 22, Affiliated Rightists 9, Movement for France 1, UDF-MoDem (centrists) 3, Affiliated Leftists 15, Left Wing Radicals 7, Greens 4, Communists 15 and others 2.
