Jammu: Two civilians died and 13 others including four women were wounded one of them critically, when unidentified militants lobbed a hand grenade near old Bus stand of Doda, on Monday afternoon.
The two critically injured succumbed to their injuries while being shifted to Jammu Medical College this evening.
Official sources said that suspected militants lobbed a hand grenade targeting civilians who had just reached to Bus-Stand from their respective villages for purchasing ration.
Reports reaching here revealed that panic gripped the area after the blast as the people start running presuming it as a fidayeen attack.
As the things calm down, the police and local residents shifted the injured to a Sub-District Hospital, where the condition of three persons was stated to be critical.
“Fifteen people, including four women and eleven males were wounded in the blast”, SSP Doda Manhowar Singh told News Agency of Kashmir over phone, adding all the injured were shifted to the local hospital where the condition of three was stated to be critical.
“The two critically injured succumbed to their injuries when they were being shifted to Jammu fro Doda district Hospital”, a police officer told News Agency of Kashmir adding that the third person was battling for his life .
The deceased have been identified as Nisar Ahmad and Reyaz Ahmad, however their parentage and residential address was yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile a man hunt was launched in the area, which was cordoned off immediately after the blast. However, the thrower managed to escape from the spot, he added.
