Islamabad : Pakistan and the European Union Troika have agreed in anti-terrorism talks to continue to work together to enhance meaningful cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism, a joint statement said here Monday.
This was the latest move in the Pak-EU interaction in this field since 2002, said the statement.
"The EU side appreciated Pakistan's contribution in the global campaign against terrorism," the statement said. "The Pakistani side stressed that it considered the EU an important partner in this field."
The EU Troika counter-terrorism delegation, led by Ambassador Matthias Sonn, held discussions with an inter-ministerial delegation headed by Pakistani Foreign Ministry official Tariq Osman Hyder.
The meeting followed the Pak-EU Ministerial Troika meeting of February 8, 2007, which decided that dialogue in a number of areas, including counter terrorism, would be institutionalised, according to the statement.
