Kolkata : Bengal pacer Ranadeb Bose, originally selected to tour England for the three-Test series, is overjoyed with the Indian cricket board's decision to fly him out for the ongoing one-day series in Ireland.

"I am surprised to have been asked to head for Ireland. I am mentally prepared, but it is a huge surprise. I am elated," Bose said.

It was like any other day for the 29-year-old Bose until he received a call from Board's chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty asking him to join Team India two weeks before his scheduled departure for England for the Test series, which begins on July 19.The call came as seven Indian players are down with viral fever in Belfast before the three-match ODI series against South Africa starting Tuesday.

Of the seven, Ajit Agarkar, S. Sreesanth and Mahendra Singh Dhoni are definitely not fit to play, Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Niranjan Shah said in a press release Monday.

As a precautionary measure, the team management, after consulting the BCCI, has also requested Rakesh Patel of Baroda, who is currently playing league cricket in England, to reach Ireland by Tuesday morning.
