Nalco net sales jumps 22 percent to Rs.59.4 bn

Bhubaneswar : State-owned National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) has achieved its highest-ever net sales of Rs.59.40 billion, an increase of 22 percent over last year's Rs.48.88 billion, company officials said Tuesday.

The company's export earnings also went up by 12 percent to Rs.25.85 billion from Rs.23.06 billion last year.

Nalco is the country's largest integrated manufacturer and exporter of alumina and aluminium.

The aluminium smelter of the company achieved 104 percent capacity utilisation during the year. The net margins have increased from 32 percent to 40 percent this time, the release said.

Similarly, the company's 960 MW captive power plant, located at Angul near the smelter plant, achieved its highest-ever power generation of 5.9 billion units, the previous best being 5.6 billion units in 2005-06.

First listed as a public sector enterprise in 1981, the company is one of Asia's largest integrated aluminium complexes, encompassing bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and casting, power generation, rail and port operations.
