India fined for slow over rate against Ireland

Belfast : The Indian cricket team was fined for slow over rate during its one-off one-day International against Ireland here Saturday.

Match Referee Alan Hurst imposed the fines after Rahul Dravid's side was ruled to be one over short of its target at the scheduled finish of the Ireland innings when the time allowances were taken into consideration, said an International Cricket Council (ICC) press release Wednesday.

India beat Ireland by nine wickets in the rain-marred match.

In accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct regulations governing low over rate penalties, players are fined five percent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

Dravid, being the captain, was fined 10 percent of his match fee while each of his teammates was fined five percent.
