New Delhi : In a function organised under the aegis of Sir Syed Foundation at India Islamic Cultural Centre here Thursday, Deputy Chairman Rajya Sabha K Rahman Khan released historian KMS Khan’s Execution of Truth and Professor SM Azeezuddin Hussain’s 1857 Revisited. The release ceremony marked the 150 years celebrations of the first war of independence 1857.
Addressing the select gathering, K Rahman Khan said, “The open air of freedom we are breathing today is the fruit of sacrifices offered by thousands and lakhs of freedom fighters. Historians have written history with their own viewpoints. These two books bring the true picture of 1857 before the reading public and highlight the sacrifices of those freedom fighters who had been lying under the dust of history.�
KMS Khan said it was his heartfelt desire to sketch the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives to free their country and have been forgotten.
Professor Azeezuddin Hussain said Sir Syed was witness to 1857 war. He informed the audience that he has based his book on the 150 documents related to 1857 preserved by Sir Syed.
