Bareilly : A sketch of Prophet Muhammad (peace be with him) published in a Class V textbook, Naitik Shiksha and Samanya Gyan published by a Jaipur-based publisher, has caused widespread anger and resentment among Muslims, reports Urdu daily Hindustan Express Tuesday.
A delegation of Muslims called on the District Magistrate and SSP here to lodge their protest against the blasphemy. On receiving their complaint, a police team accompanied by City Education Officer mounted a raid on Mukesh English School situated on City Station Road here but it did not recover any such book. The principal of the school reportedly told the team that he had bought 150 books from Sahitya Sadan but returned them following the objections.
When the police team mounted a raid on Sahitya Sadan, its owner told the team that the said books had been sent back to the publisher.
