Intoto releases security software for SME market

Hyderabad : US-based Intoto, a leading provider of security software, Tuesday announced the beta release of IntruPro IPS, an enterprise-class intrusion prevention system.

IntruPro IPS allows channel partners and IT managers to easily create a robust, enterprise-ready security device using off-the-shelf x86 server hardware, making it an ideal solution for any small to mid-sized enterprise.

Founded in 1998 with headquarters in Santa Clara, California, Intoto has its India development centre in Hyderabad. It is a leading provider of security software for enterprise networking equipment and customer premises equipment (CPE) gateways.

Its new intrusion prevention system is available as a free download for 30 days at www.openintoto.com, said a statement released by the company.

The IPS is designed to prevent an intruder from exploiting vulnerabilities in an existing computer system or network. It also aims to prevent individuals inside the enterprise from misusing privileges and exploiting existing vulnerabilities in the network.

IntruPro IPS uses multiple detection methods, including signature detection, protocol anomaly and traffic anomaly. The system monitors the network traffic, alerts administrators of any suspicious activity and stops attacks from reaching their intended destination.

"To date, high-performing, enterprise-class network security has been out of the reach of many small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) due to cost constraints, yet just because they're small doesn't mean these companies don't have major security concerns," said Sathyan Iyengar, CEO, Intoto.

In conjunction with final product availability, Intoto and its network of partners will provide yearly signature updates at $1,000 per year per installation.
