Kathmandu : Eight more climbers, including two Germans and an Austrian, have reached the summit of Mount Everest, the Nepalese government confirmed Wednesday.

The tourism ministry said 40-year-old Wolf Herbert of Austria, 41-year-old Ralph Ziegeimeier of Germany along with their team mates Muhammad I.M. Faizan from Pakistan and Chuldin Sherpa from Nepal reached the summit of the 8,848-metre high peak on Tuesday.

They were part of a 10-member International Everest Expedition led by Herbert.

Similarly, 42-year-old Drik Herman Stephan from Germany along with American Stephan A. Giesecke, Meagan McGarth from Canada and Dawa Steven Sherpa of Nepal reached the summit of the world's highest mountain on Monday.

The ministry says the total number of climbers reaching the summit from the Nepalese side has now crossed 100 and the figure is expected to rise as more climbers push for the summit before the spring climbing season closes at the end of May.

At least 10 people have been confirmed killed in the Nepalese Himalayas this year, including four on Everest and three each on Lhotse and Dhaulagiri.
