JK Gujjar united front condemns Rajasthan killings

Jammu: Criticizing the Rajasthan Government for killing of innocent members of Gujjar Community during a protest held to highlight their demand for their inclusion in scheduled Tribe list , Secretary General of the Jammu and Kashmir Gujjars United Front, Shah Mohammad Choudhary has termed the incident as unfortunate and demanded CBI inquiry for fixing the responsibility.

Addressing a press conference, the Gujjars leader strongly condemned the killings of innocent people of Gujjar community by the police in Dausa, Tonk Sawai Madhopur and Karauli District of Rajasthan state during a peaceful demonstration.

“It was very unfortunate that the police fired shots on the innocent Gujjars who were demanding the inclusion of their community in the scheduled tribe list of the union of India”, said Shah Mohammad Choudhary, adding that their demonstration was within the parameters of constitution of India as right to speech and expression and peaceful demonstrations is guaranteed to every citizen of India.

He termed the police action as most barbarous, inhuman and against the spirit of democracy.

Holding the government of Rajasthan squarely responsible for the killings of Gujjars, he said that it was the prime responsibility of the administration to protect the life and properties of the Gujjars of Rajasthan. “The BJP led government in Rajasthan had promised to recommend the central government for the inclusion of Gujjars in scheduled Tribe category during last elections” he said adding but later backtracked from its commitment and cheated the most nationalist community of India.

The J&K Gujjars united Front and the entire Gujjar community of Jammu and Kashmir State extends their heartfelt sympathies with the families of those who have been killed in police firing. “We also extend full support for the cause of Gujjars of Rajasthan” said BSP Leader Dr Gaffor Ahmad and appealed Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir and rest of the country to get united and fight for the just cause of Gujjars of Rajasthan who have laid their lives for a just cause.

Hajji Mohd Hussian urged upon the Prime Minister and UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi to provide quick ex-gratia relief to next of the kin of those killed in police firing, besides conferring scheduled tribe status to the Gujjars of Rajasthan who have been fighting for this since long. He also demanded stern action against those responsible for killings.
