Bochum out of relegation zone in Bundesliga

Berlin, Nov 5 (Xinhua) VfL Bochum climbed out of the relegation zone of German Bundesliga football after a 5-3 home win against Wolfsburg while Karlsruhe were back in fourth place in the league table thanks to a 1-0 victory over Duisburg.

The teams entertained the 20,940 fans Sunday with eight goals in a pulsating clash, Bochum ending their winless run of eight matches and leaving the relegation zone for the first time this season with 12 points. Visitors Wolfsburg saw their unbeaten run of seven matches ended.

Stanislav Sestak bagged his goals number five and six of the season and along with strikes by Marcel Maltritz and Danny Fuchs for the hosts before the interval put the tie beyond Wolfsburg.

However, the visitors continued to fight after the break. Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath brought on Pablo Thiam and Edin Dzeko at half-time, and the team had a totally different look from then on.

Marcel Schafer and Grafite scored thrice for Wolfsburg, but Joel Epalle’s goal ensured that Bochum was not really under pressure.

In Sunday’s other game, Karlsruhe extended their unbeaten run to six matches beating Duisburg 1-0 at home, thanks to a 29th minute goal by captain Mario Eggimann.
