Indian universities keen to work in partnership with Ethiopian counterparts

Addis Ababa : Indian well-known universities are keen to forge partnership with Ethiopian universities in order to offer higher education training.

Administrative bodies and scholars of New Delhi University, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Indian Institute of Technology and Amity University held discussion with Prime Minister Meles Zenawi on ways working in partnership with Ethiopian universities in New Delhi, India.

During the discussion the administrative bodies and scholars said their respective universities in collaboration with Ethiopian universities are ready to offer training through websites, satellite and other modern technologies at masters and doctoral degree levels.

The universities are also enthusiastic to provide support in the effort of curriculum preparation.

Prof.Vijay Kapur of New Delihi University said his university is ready to offer training in management science and engineering fields.

He said representatives of the university would come to Ethiopia soon to discuss with their Ethiopian counterparts on ways working in partnership.

Prof. M. Balakrishnan, dean of postgraduate studies at Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi on his part said the institute is keen to offer training in engineering and other fields of study at masters degree level through distance education program.

The institute is ready to support Ethiopia effort of maintaining quality of education.

Administrative bodies and scholars of the institute held fruitful discussion with Prime Minster Meles on ways of creating partnership with Ethiopian universities.
