Madhya Pradesh to have a science policy

Bhopal: The Bharatiya Janata Party ruled Madhya Pradesh Government is going to begin the process of formulating a state policy of science. The policy would aim at enhancing awareness of children, adolescents, youths, farmers, artisans and common people about science.

The Minister for Science, Information Technology and Public Works Kailash Vijaywargiya said that the people of Madhya Pradesh have given a new identity to the state by virtue of their excellence in science. Though an authentic figure is not available, it has been felt that the computer professionals of Madhya Pradesh are shining in the world.

The Minister said that a comprehensive and balanced document would be prepared keeping in view the SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunities and threats) of Madhya Pradesh, which would greatly help popularizing science making it more meaningful and useful for the common people. He said that the field of science is immense; therefore, there is need for mutual coordination of every discipline and organ of science. The policy would take care of this, he added.

The Minister said that we are a proud society with an enviably rich heritage of science. Our ancestors had astounding achievements to their credit in this field. Their outstanding achievements and excellence in architecture, medical science and engineering are still before us. The ancient books contain the scientific wisdom and knowledge of India. The policy would seek to ensure a perfect coordination between the past and the present, he said.

Vijaywargiya said that ensuring balance between needs of rural populace and forest dwellers and natural resources besides efficient management of available resources are need of the hour. It would be taken care of in the proposed science policy of the state.

The Minister said that creating proper infrastructure to build a congenial atmosphere for effervescence of science would form the most important component of the science policy. The government would seek the advice and cooperation of every section of society in formulation of the policy, he added. ([email protected])
