Haj flights from Kashmir cancelled again

Srinagar, Nov 29 (IANS) All Haj flights from Kashmir were cancelled for the second day Thursday even as operations of domestic airlines remained suspended for the fourth consecutive day.

Both the Air India flights, scheduled to carry pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, were cancelled because of poor visibility.

“The minimum required visibility is 2.2 km while today (Thusday) the visibility at Srinagar airport was only 1.2 km,” an official of the Indian Airlines told IANS.

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, after a meeting with state officials, had told reporters Wednesday that if the conditions continued to remain foggy, the authorities would operate Haj flights from Jammu so that the pilgrims do not suffer.
