Hollande Blames Sarkozy for Tension in France

Paris, Nov 29 (Prensa Latina) The first secretary of the Socialist Party of France, Francois Hollande, blamed President Nicolas Sarkozy on Wednesday for the riots that have taken place in the country over the past few weeks.

At the same time, he noted that violence shows the climate of social injustice that prevails in the country.

During a press conference to explain his party’s proposals to improve the people’s purchasing power, Hollande regretted the social chaos caused by recent trade union strikes, protests by public officials and disputes among judges.

He also condemned the current students’ protests against the University Autonomy Act and the latest violent acts in the outskirts of Paris, all of which have been caused by government’s policy.

The PS leader pointed out that the root cause of everything is the people’s poor purchasing power, and mentioned his party’s suggestions, which will be submitted to the National Assembly.

The suggestions include a wage raise, a reduction in taxes on basic food and gasoline, better treatment of public servants, and a new review of small pensions, among others.
