Lebanese PM discusses with Qatari Emir establishment of oil refinery in Lebanon

Doha : Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Al-Siniora said he has discussed with Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani here the establishment of an oil refinery in Lebanon.

Siniora, speaking to reporters ahead of his departure from Doha following a brief visit Thursday, said the establishment of the oil refinery had already been discussed with Sheikh Hamad and an international company was assigned to carry out a feasibility study of this project. “We received the study and are now following this matter with the Qatari side,” he added.

On Qatari gas supply to Lebanon, Siniora said this issue was difficult at the time being because of logistic problems.

On the Nahr Al-Bared refugee camp, Siniora said the camp was a Palestinian camp which was occupied by the Fatah Al-Islam gang, a terrorist group undermining the security of Lebanon and its people.

The Lebanese army cracked down on the Fatah Al-Islam militants in Nahr Al-Bared camp and killed dozens of them. The Lebanese army also suffered casualties.

Siniora said his government was exerting efforts to bring back all Palestinian refugees to their camp in cooperation with the international community. “We want this camp to be a model to building correct and good relations based on the respect of the Lebanese state. The Palestinians are guests in Lebanon until they return to their country,” he said.
