FIFA will experiment by using three referees in matches at the Club World Cup in December. The plan is to have two extra goalmouth officials, while goal line technology will also be tested. (Sun)
The tension between Michael Owen and his Newcastle United manager Sam Allardyce stretches back nearly two years. The England and Newcastle striker was written off by Allardyce before the 2006 World Cup and Owen’s insistence on playing for England against Estonia and Russia is in order to prove Allardyce wrong.
