Sachin gears up for his 400th ODI

Vadodara, Oct 10 (IANS) Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar is geared up for his 400th one-day international when India take on Australia in the fifth match of the Future Cup cricket series here Thursday.

The Reliance Stadium here has been a happy hunting ground for India as they have never lost a match. The ground has also been a lucky one for Tendulkar as he featured in all the five occasions that India won. His averages here are a stupendous 95.25 with three centuries.

Tendulkar’s highest so far at this ground has been 122 against the South Africans in March 2000. It was thrilling encounter between the two teams as India won with just one ball to spare.

He also has some happy memories from the last match played here when he scored an unbeaten 100 as India defeated the West Indies by a huge margin of 160 runs in January.

Tendulkar also scored a brilliant 115 in the inaugural match at the Reliance Stadium way back in 1994. India went on to win the match by seven wickets against New Zealand.

This time also, Tendulkar would be hoping to score a century to make the moment memorable. He has been declared fit for the fifth match after he failed to field during the entire Australian innings in the last match in Chandigarh.

“Sachin is fit. He has been examined by (team physio) John Gloster and he is doing fine,” said Indian team manager Lalchand Rajput.
