Jajpur : At least 25 thatched houses were reduced to ashes and six people suffered burn injuries when a major fire swept through Barei village in Orissa’s Jajpur district, officials said Thursday.
The fire broke out Wednesday due to a short circuit in the house of village resident Narayan Nayak and immediately spread to other houses, a police official said.
At least six people sustained burn injuries after a half burnt house caved in on them when they were trying to douse the fire. They are undergoing treatment in a local hospital.
