SIO plans education caravan

New Delhi: There is an urgent need to redefine the existing educational system. The contemporary educational system is all about producing ‘Knowledge-Workers’ and ‘Servant of Corporate-gods’, told Mr.M.Asif Iqbal, Campaign-Coordinator, Delhi Zone explaining the objectives of campaign. Students Islamic Organization (SIO) of India, Delhi Zone is all set to launch a mass awareness campaign on the theme “25 years of Redefining Education-Regaining Struggle, Renovating Society SIO -Awakening the Nation”. The campaign, which is to start on 19th October 2007, is part of the Nation-Awakening campaign launched by the Students Islamic Organization (SIO) of India.

Campaign shall address the fundamental flaws of contemporary educational system, its negative impacts on society and the growing dispassionate attitude of students’ community towards struggle for the reconstruction of society. A National Caravan will be inaugurated on 5th November in Delhi. The Caravan starting from Jamia Millia Islamia and passing through Delhi University and Hamdard University in Delhi lead to Mumbai via different Cities of Haryana, Punjab, U.P, Rajasthan, M.P., Gujrat, Maharshtra would reach Mumbai on November 25 where a National level Conference will be held. As a prelude to the Nation-awakening Caravan, a series of activities which includes Students’ Leaders Summit, Awakening the Youth Lecture Series, Seminar, Symposium, Film Festival, Cultural Nights, Literary Competitions, Rally, Debate, Demonstration, Street Plays, etc. are starting from 19th of October. Foundation Day, 19th October will be observed as Students’ Day and Students’ Manifesto will be released on this occasion. Two other caravans are also scheduled to start from Trivandarum (Kerala) and Kolkata (West Bengal) on 03 and 04th November respectively.
