Kolkata : Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd, a “mini-ratna” public sector enterprise, has posted a net profit of Rs.687.9 million for the half-year ended Sep 30, 2007, as compared to Rs.553.6 million for the same period last year.
Profit before tax has shown a sharp increase of 35 percent at Rs.382.9 million as against Rs.284.6 million in the same period last year, a company release here said.
Similarly, net profit for the second quarter has increased to Rs.259.9 million as compared to Rs.189.5 million.
The un-audited financial results for the first half of this fiscal were approved at the board meeting of the company Tuesday.
The total income for the second quarter ended Sep 30, 2007, was Rs.3.63 billion, up by 13 percent from Rs.3.21 billion in the corresponding period last year.
Total income of the company for the half-year ended Sep 30 stood at Rs.7.26 billion as compared to Rs.6.35 billion in the same period last year.
