Mumbai : After the clarifications from the Indian market regulator on participatory notes at a televised conference Monday, the bulls seemed to be back in action in the early hours of trade Tuesday.

The markets were trading strong with heavy buying in all sectors across the board. The sensitive index (Sensex) of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened 594.06 points higher than Monday’s close, or up 3.37 percent. It was trading at 18,208.05 at around 11.45 a.m.

All the key indices were trading in the green with significant gains that had improved the breadth of the market. The volume was impressive, due to broad-based participation by investors.

Among the top gainers on the Sensex were Bharti Airtel at Rs.987.20, up 6.42 percent; Reliance Energy at Rs.1,454.80, up 6.19 percent; and BHEL at Rs.2,168.80, up 5.44 percent.
