Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati Wednesday flatly denied any association with a book that eulogises her as a “living goddess”.
Reacting to a report on a TV channel showing excerpts from the book, titled “Mayawati – Ek Zinda Devi” (Mayawati – A Living Goddess)” authored by M.L. Dosad, the chief minister told a specially convened press conference here: “I wish to make it clear that I have nothing whatsoever to do with either the author of the book or its publisher.
“In fact, I came to know about the existence of this book only through a TV channel that carried a story on it last evening.”
The cover of the book depicts the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief in the manner of Hindu goddess Durga, crushing her political opponents – the Samajwadi Party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.
The book is on sale at a BSP sponsored bookshop here.
Mayawati observed, “My party does not believe in denigrating anyone. Our ideology and aim is to build a society without discriminations of any kind so that everyone is treated at par.”
