Baghdad : Two policemen were killed and three others wounded in a roadside bomb explosion near the Diwaniya city in southern Iraq Friday, a local police source said.
“The attack took place Friday morning when a police patrol was returning from a mission in the nearby town of Dagharra, killing two policemen and wounding three others,” the source told Xinhua.
Iraqi security forces immediately cordoned off the scene, while ambulances evacuated the victims to a nearby Multi-National Forces medical facility, he added.
Diwaniya, about 180 km south of Baghdad, has been the scene of clashes between Shiite militia loyal to radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr and forces backed by the US troops.
