Jaipur : Jaipur made silver jewellery is all set to make a mark in international fashion shows to be held in Paris and New York later this month.
Ashok Goyal, director of JDwarka, a jewellery house here, is going to showcase his hand-made silver jewellery at the Pret A Porter international fashion show in Paris, scheduled from Sep 7 to 10.
He will then take his work to the international New York fashion show, which will be held from Sep 15 to 17.
“We would be showcasing our hand made silver designs in these shows,” Goyal told IANS.
He said a collection of seven necklaces made of sterling silver and studded with semi precious stones has been created especially for the shows.
“It was not an easy task to conceptualise and make these necklaces. It took us over a month to arrive at the final figure,” said Ashok Goyal, who is into exports of jewellery for the last 15 years.
In one of the necklaces, semi precious stones like amethyst, citirin and garnet have been used. The weight of the necklace is 410 grams. It is 60 cm long and the width is 40 cm.
Another necklace is of triangular shape and was a challenge to make, Goyal said.
Stone and funky wooden jewellery would also be showcased in the Paris show.
Rajasthan is a big jewellery exporter. As per trade figures over Rs.15 billion of jewellery is exported every year from the state, of which over 80-85 percent is exported from Jaipur alone.
