Dhaka : All colleges in Bangladesh’s six major cities, including capital Dhaka, reopened Saturday after unrest-prompted closure on Aug. 22.
The government made an announcement on Thursday asking the colleges in the six cities which had been closed to reopen on Saturday. The government on Sept. 3 also asked the public universities in the six cities to decide their reopening date.
An unrest started on Aug. 20 from Dhaka University led by a quarrel between an army personnel and some students. Later the unrest spread to other places in the country. One person was killed and several hundreds people were wounded during the three-day country-wide violence.
The caretaker government led by Fakhruddin Ahmed had to declare curfew and closed all the universities and colleges in the six major cities on Aug. 22.
