New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is likely to be discharged Monday from AIIMS after a prostate surgery to remove a benign growth, and hospital sources said he has been advised rest for a week.
“The prime minister is recovering well. He may be back home tomorrow (Monday),” said Sanjaya Baru, media advisor to Manmohan Singh.
The 75-year-old prime minister, who spent his second day at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Sunday, is recuperating fast, hospital sources said.
Manmohan Singh may have to take rest for a week at least, the sources said.
A team of four urologists led by N.P. Gupta, head of the department of urology at AIIMS, has been monitoring his condition.
The doctors Sunday did not allow anyone other than his family members to visit him.
“His cabinet colleagues have been sending him ‘get well soon’ messages and flowers. But no one is being allowed to visit him,” a source said.
Gupta and his team conducted the endoscopic surgery on the prime minister Saturday to remove enlargement of the prostate. Manmohan Singh was admitted to AIIMS at 6 a.m. Saturday.
