Bhubaneswar, Sep 18 (IANS) Sky Airways, a non-scheduled passenger operator, introduced a service for those interested in flying to Orissa’s mining belt of Keonjhar.
On Monday, an eight-seater Islander aircraft carrying seven persons including three passengers flew for the first time from Biju Patnaik international airport at Bhubaneswar at 7.30 a.m. and reached Tonto in Joda city of Keonjhar district at 9.15 a.m., a company official told IANS.
Keonjhar is about 250 km from Bhubaneswar. It is one of the main mineral producing districts in Orissa where several companies are setting up steel plants.
The flight returned to Bhubaneswar carrying four passengers, said Dibyajyoti Biswal, Sky Airways customer relations officer.
Sky Airways is promoted by the M.L. Agarwal group, which has business interests in Orissa’s mining and steel sectors. The company plans to provide flights to other towns of Orissa including Sambalpur, Bargarh, Cuttack, Puri, Koraput and Rayagada. The services are scheduled to start next month.
A round trip from Bhubaneswar to Keonjhar will cost Rs.8,486. The service will be available all days except Sunday.
