Amman : King Abdullah has reiterated that taking care of holy places in Jerusalem and supporting the steadfastness of Palestinians in the holy city are of main concern and interest for him.
His Majesty made his remarks as he presided over the first meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Jordan Hashemite Fund for the Reconstruction of Al Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock.
“The objective of the Fund is to institutionalise the work in this direction and provide the necessary support to take care of holy places,” he said.
The King donated JD1.113 million to the fund, which he entrusted personal envoy and special ddviser to the King, Prince Ghazi Bin Mohammad to preside over the Board of Trustees of the Fund. (USD 1 = JD 0.708952)
King Abdullah issued orders to pay additional salary this month for employees at the Awqaf Department in Jerusalem, in appreciation for their efforts and to support their steadfastness in facing challenges as well as their role in the maintenance of the Islamic holy places.
The fund aims to provide the necessary funding for the care of the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock as well as Islamic holy places in Jerusalem to ensure the continuity of reconstruction, maintenance, and providing all the requirements necessary to emphasize the importance of these holy places for Muslims in general and the Hashemites in particular.
