New York : Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah has conferred here with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice discussing bilateral relations and issues of common concern.
The two sides also discussed other topics including the international conference called for by US President George W.Bush on the Middle East, which is expected to be held in Washington next November, Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Murad said in a statement to KUNA and the Kuwait State Television.
He said that the meeting dealt with issues relating to the parties participating in the International Conference and how it would be held and the results that could be reached.
Sheikh Mohammed “had a point of view in this issue particularly with regard to the success of this conference as a springboard for other meetings to be in favour of the Palestinian cause and Arab issues, particularly with regard to the problem of the Middle East,” the ambassador noted.
He said that the meeting also dealt with the issue of Iraq, particularly with respect to the security aspect, as well as the subject of Iran in general.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Dr Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Ambassador to the United States Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah and the Director of the Office of International Organisations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mansour Al-Otaibi.
The two ministers are in New York to attend the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly and participate in the general debate opening the annual meetings during which Kuwait’s speech will be delivered by Sheikh Mohammed next Friday.
