Rajput retained coach for Australia ODIs

Mumbai : Former India batsman Lalchand Rajput, the cricket manager of the Twenty20 World Championship-winning Indian team, was Thursday retained for the seven-match One-day International series against Australia starting in Bangalore Saturday.

Announcing this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that the appointment was made “as an interim arrangement”.

The BCCI also announced that former India captain Nari Contractor has been nominated for the C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for 2006-2007.

The C.K. Nayudu Awards Committee, consisting of BCCI president Sharad Pawar, I.S. Bindra, M.A.K. Pataudi, Prabhash Joshi and Niranjan Shah, unanimously nominated Contractor’s name.

The award consists of a trophy, a citation and a cash prize of Rs.1.5.million.

The award ceremony will be held in November.
